“We’ve been working with Sentinel for a long time, and their professionalism really stands out – when the system is ordered, it arrives, it works, and it’s one less thing for me to worry about.”
Tony White, Head of Supply Chain, Mellor Bus Ltd
Mellor is the UK’s leading small bus manufacturer, specialising in low-floor and accessible vehicles designed and built in Britain. Operating from its Rochdale production plant with multiple dedicated lines, Mellor delivers a wide range of vehicles for public sector and private operators – from community transport to full-size specialist buses.
Mellor produces a variety of different bus types and works with operators that demand high standards of safety and reliability. There is a complex procurement process involved in Mellor’s vehicle builds – from chassis arriving from manufacturers such as Mercedes, Fiat, and Iveco, through to body-building and final fit-out. The bill of materials for any vehicle can be well over 300 items, so there are a lot of moving parts to manage.
With four vehicles completed each week and a build cycle of 16 days, anything that simplifies installation and supports production flow is worth its weight in gold. For that reason in particular, Mellor has worked with Sentinel Systems, on behalf of their customers, for many years.
“Our team puts the orders in, and I don’t have to think about the cameras – Sentinel just handles it. That kind of reliability is rare but so important to our business.”
Tony White, Head of Supply Chain, Mellor Bus Ltd
Sentinel has supplied a wide variety of camera recording systems to Mellor’s vehicles over that time. The systems arrive pre-wired by Sentinel and are fitted by Mellor in-house during the build process, and the Mellor engineers then connect and test the system once all panels are in place.
Because Mellor’s production schedule operates on a tight four-day factory week and a 16-day build cycle, ease of integration and reliability are key. Sentinel’s work with Mellor is built around several key benefits:
Mellor and Sentinel Systems share a commitment to reliable, well-engineered solutions that work day in and day out in demanding environments. Working with Sentinel, Mellor guarantees its vehicles leave the factory fully equipped and ready for operator deployment without any surprises. That’s great for customer satisfaction, manufacturer reputation, and protecting the end customer’s investment.
For manufacturers and fleet operators looking to integrate safety and recording systems without disrupting build flow or complicating installation, Sentinel Systems remains the go-to partner for practical, reliable technology.
