Being struck by a moving vehicle accounts for 16% of all workplace fatalities in the UK and nearly a quarter of those deaths happen during reversing, which is a staggering statistic in 2026.
Fines of up to £2.5 million have been handed down in recent cases, and in every one, the failures were preventable.
For fleets operating across yards, depots, and live construction sites, relying on mirrors and driver awareness alone isn't enough. The right reversing aids, including autobraking systems, turn a daily risk into a managed one.

When reverse gear is selected, the system activates automatically. No driver input is needed. The sensors, both ultrasonic and radar are available, begin scanning the area behind the vehicle and the system is ready to respond.

If an obstacle is detected during reversing, the driver receives an initial audible and visual alert through the in-cab sounder and display. This gives the driver early warning while there is still distance to react.

As the vehicle continues to reverse and the distance to the obstacle decreases, the alerts increase in frequency. The closer the object, the more urgent the warning, giving the driver a clear sense of proximity in real time.

If the obstacle remains and the distance falls below a set safety threshold, the system applies the vehicle's brakes automatically, bringing it to a stop. The brakes hold for a few seconds before releasing, allowing the driver to reassess and continue safely.
